2021 Furniture and Design Trends
Earlier in the month Jackie and her team were able to visit HighPoint Market in North Carolina to see the new furniture and design trends that are emerging. Check out the trends that stood out to Jackie as she shopped:
Super Comfort
This year one of the main themes we saw throughout was a focus on ultimate comfort. These past 16 months have taught us that it is important to feel comfy and cozy in your home. We saw this in both furniture styles and fabrics. In furniture, we saw overstuffed/plush seating that invites you to sit and relax. In fabrics, we saw a lot of options that were soft to the touch.

Updates in Color
Every year brings shifts in color tones and every time we go to market we look forward to what’s new and how these shifts are reflective of our moods. Take a look at this year’s color trends:
- Warming of neutral colors. We saw more caramels and grey being used as an accent color.
- Shades of green taking center stage which was once dominated with blue.
- Black and White combination remains popular with black upholstery becoming popular to give a striking contemporary look.
- Updating the traditional look by using lighter tones.

Oversized Accessories
With spending more time indoors, people are appreciating natural light more. But for some homes, bringing more natural light into a space isn’t possible, which has led to creating oversized lighting fixtures.
Also, we saw a focus on large pieces of artwork, making it easier to fill an empty wall. Check out this dramatic piece from the show!

Increased Popularity in Performance Fabrics
The furniture industry is definitely booming! As people have been spending more time in their homes more people are realizing the need to create beautiful, comfortable spaces. As we have used our furniture more, the desire to invest for better quality furniture has also increased. People want furniture that will last longer and weather more constant use better. This has led to an increase in the use of performance fabrics, which are stain-resistant, easy to clean and better withstand the wear and tear of every day life.
We are excited to bring products that reflect these design trends into our showroom in the coming months.
