Making Your Bedroom Beautiful
Ah, yes–the moment you’ve been waiting for! It’s the end of the day and you’re finally getting ready to retreat to bed. The dishes aren’t done but at least your computer’s off and you phone is charging. Laundry will have to wait–these precious moments of the evening are yours and yours alone. What if you weren’t just retreating to sleep but instead to your personal oasis, a retreat within your own home? Your bedroom is an intimate space and is perhaps where you feel most comfortable in your home. This is where the work clothes come off and comfy pajamas take center stage. Your bedroom doesn’t just have to be an oasis in your dreams! We want to transform your boudoir into a beautiful oasis that’s brimming with comfort and style. Our interior designers want you to have it all, especially when it comes to your private place to retreat. In this blog post we’ll help turn your bedroom design dreams into a reality.
Color
The color theme of your bedroom will have the MOST influence on the overall feel of the space. Even if you love bright and bold colors (as do we, of course) our interior designers highly recommend maintaining a softer and more neutral palette when it comes to your bedroom. If you’re going for the bedroom oasis feel, you’ll most likely have the best success by sticking to a color palette that’s full of subtle hues ranging from gray and white to gentle blues, browns, and golds. Working with this kind of color palette truly broadens your design options. By sticking to a neutral color theme you aren’t limiting yourself to one particular tone like you would by painting your walls, say, red or purple. Of course, we’ve branched out before and designed stunning rooms like this basement bedroom. At the end of the day, it’s really up to you. For an oasis feel, neutral is key. We love the look of the master suite shown in the neighboring photo. Though the color palette is fairly soft, this room definitely makes a statement. Texture
Incorporating various textures into your bedroom can really add depth and dimension to the space. Sometimes we tend to play it safe when it comes to decorating our homes and forget that our walls do not have to remain two dimensional! Playing up your wall space with unique art is an excellent way to show off your individual taste. Choose inspiring prints that will encourage you each day when you wake up.
Hang photos that will remind you of what you’re grateful for before going to bed. One of the simplest ways to add textural interest to your bedroom is by incorporating upholstered pieces. We offer a wide variety of upholstered chairs and furniture but upholstery isn’t limited to chairs. Incorporating an upholstered bed into your space will add a dramatic and luxurious element that’s hard to miss. Your bed, no matter the size, will be the focal point of you room; play up its design by branching out with an upholstered headboard. As you can see in the neighboring photo, an upholstered headboard and bed frame can make a space look instantly glamorous. We love the detailed tufting of the Paris Bed that is reminiscent of an upscale boutique. Talk about bedroom oasis!
Other options like our ever-popular Brando Bed features a unique diamond patterned tufting that makes it quite a statement piece. It’s multi-paneled design make it a perfect focal piece for your bedroom oasis. For a non-upholstered yet still oasis-feeling look we recommend choosing a wooden bed-frame in a relaxed finish like the Corsica King Panel Bed in Light Natural Acacia.
Choose lighting options that reflect the relaxation-theme and install dimmers. Include various-sized lamps throughout the space to highlight features like unique wall art. Don’t forget to offset your bed with a luxurious rug and elegant nightstands. Make use of cleverly hung mirrors to make your space feel larger. Add the finishing touches by layering different textured fabrics and plush pillows and you’re ready to relax like a queen! (Or king!)
Details & Accents
Your bedroom oasis wouldn’t be complete without meaningful details and thoughtful accents. We love the idea of incorporating a sitting nook into your space, regardless of the size. Whether you have space for a couch or chaise lounge or only have a small corner for a chair, include a place where you can relax.
Creating a nook doesn’t have to be difficult. Start with your base piece, like the Renee Upholstered Chair . Pair your chair with a small side table and lamp and decorate the table with a photo of someone you love and a stack of enticing novels. Finish the space with a super soft throw blanket and you’ll be good to go.
There’s nothing quite as personal as your own bedroom. It’s the place where you can come home, shut the blinds, and fall into the pillows. Your bedroom is as eclectic and unique as you. That’s why we’ve put together a collection of hand-crafted bedroom furniture that’s fully customizable. From finishes to upholstery, our beds, headboards, dressers, and nightstands can be as finished–or unfinished–as you like.
