Michelle L. – Rochester Home Update
When Michelle moved into her second home right before Christmas last year she knew she needed to update the carpet and paint and also wanted to give the places a modern yet comfortable feel. She chose to hire Home Interior Warehouse decorator, Darlene, to help with the design choices and is very glad she did.
Q: Is this your first experience with an interior designer or have you worked with one before?
I have worked with other designers prior to HIW, two to be exact, but HIW made me feel comfortable and really worked with my thought process. They were very helpful and so easy to work with. They also gave me many options and worked within my budget.
Q. What made you seek out an interior designer to help with your home?
I know my strengths and weaknesses and I needed help in this regard. I really wanted to create a calm, clean, modern look but wanted it to be comfortable also. This is new and different than the way we have our first home decorated.
Q. What were the main reasons you decided to hire Home Interior Warehouse to do your interior design?
Darlene has always been so helpful and made it low stress to work with HIW. Even when it came to small purchases, the entire staff was always very helpful.
Q. How has having an interior designer affected your design hopes and dreams?
I discovered that our tastes have changed and that we actually like clean and sleek versus what we always thought we liked which was more of a classic style.
Q, How would you describe the style of your home? Contemporary/Modern? Rustic? Classic? Something else? Did you know this was your style before or did the interior designer help you discover that?
I would describe the new home more Contemporary/Modern. Our style prior to this was more classic/traditional. I really enjoyed creating a new Zen like environment where everything blends perfectly to create a clean look that is very soothing and elegant.
Q. Was having an interior designer the experience you expected?
I love partnering with HIW as they are so easy to work with and make you feel comfortable asking anything. Most of the times I was not correct, but they really had a nice way of telling me that there may be better alternatives than my original thought. Not always the case with other designers I worked with in the past.
Q. What was your favorite part of having a HIW interior designer working in your home? How would you describe the way the interior designer listened and interpreted your design hopes and dreams?
HIW knew exactly what I wanted to accomplish and that it was very different than our current home. It was a big change. They respected that and designed with that in mind.
Q. Do you have a favorite piece or pieces that were added to your home? Why is it/are they your favorite?
I now have this Ottoman that is a leopard print in grey tones and a grey standalone bar that I love. Everything blends perfectly and I would highly recommend HIW to anyone, especially someone that may be apprehensive about hiring a designer.
