Picnic Table Decorations
Picnic Decoration Ideas
As autumn approaches I always feel the need to squeeze in one last time for every summer activity. One last beach trip, one last day at the park and one last picnic. With Labor Day coming up, it provides the perfect opportunity for a final picnic or cook out with family and friends. Make sure your picnic table stands out with these decoration ideas.
Cover Up
Picnic tables are subject to all kinds of weather and therefore aren’t always the cleanest or smoothest. Table clothes and runners are a perfect solution because they not only cover any dirt or splinters, they can also set a festive mood. Go with a navy stripe tablecloth overlaid with some netting for a nautical feel, a piece of burlap with a lace runner for a more rustic look, or a whimsical print for a fun, casual vibe.
A centerpiece is a great way to dress up an otherwise boring picnic table, but it doesn’t have to be elaborate to get the job done. A simple vase or jar with flowers can brighten up any table, and adding lemon slices or pretty pebbles to the vase makes it even better. Candles are another great centerpiece and help with illuminating the table if the party stretches past sunset.
Put in Your Place
An often overlooked area to add some decoration is at the place setting. Think outside the box with name cards that reflect the feel of the party and setting, like origami cranes for a Japanese garden or names written on leaves at a park or stones at the beach. And setting each place rather than just allowing guests to grab a plate or fork with their food gives your picnic a bit more elegance.
