Creative Color Combos

Each year our designers head to the interior design mecca, Highpoint Market in North Carolina to see what trends are unfolding across the interior design world. With over 10 million square feet by roughly 2000 exhibitors, Highpoint Market is THE place to be when it comes to trends and this year, we noticed an increase of color. Whereas 2016 and 2017 put a tremendous emphasis on grey, 2018 seems to be pulling out the stops when it comes to color and, boy, we have no qualms about that! Color is being reintroduced into the very fabric of designs and we absolutely love it! Many of the uniquely-styled pieces and displays at Highpoint Market last spring offered a nod to colorful craftsmanship. Artists crafted elegantly curved, modern looking furniture and effortlessly combined the pieces with bright, bold colors to really make a splash for Summer 2018. On the otherhand, though, while bold and beautiful remained one of our favorite highlights of the Highpoint Market tour, we did also notice a unique combo nation of color-blocking. Where as traditional color-blocking usually focuses on pairing bright and bold colors, we noticed how artists combined muted tones together to make one cohesive look.

Unique Furniture

To keep this season so effortlessly summer-like, we plan on putting a heavy emphasis on making you home’s pieces do most of the talking. Summer gives such an easy-breezy vibe and we want that to translate to your home’s decor. For example, we love the look of this Affinity Round End Table. Notice how its sleek, curved frame (very Highpoint 2018) blends seamlessly with the carved lines of a traditional armchair without being too intrusive or too boring. Topped off with a gorgeous fabric like the print seen below, this look is both classic and modern and puts the perfect blend of fresh and traditional on display.
