Two of the biggest mistakes people tend to make is either choosing art that is too small or hung too high. A good rule of thumb should be that your artwork is 75% the width of what it’s hanging over and hung at eye level of the average person.

If you are looking to add one statement piece to anchor the space, large-scale art may be what you are looking for. However, if you want to incorporate several pieces into a space, a gallery wall may be just what you need. 

 

Consider Your Existing Decor

Before you select any new artwork, it is also wise to take into consideration your existing decor. Unless you are doing a full redesign of your space, choosing artwork that compliments your decor is the smart way to go. We recommend that if you have a mostly neutral room, rich or colorful art could be great to infuse. If you already have plenty of color, texture, and pattern, look for simpler, more subdued art pieces.

 

Choose Complimentary Styles
