How Home Interior Designer’s Save the Day
Charles Newman and his wife are now in their eighth home that they have either remodeled or rebuilt. Even with so much remodeling expertise, they chose Home Interior Warehouse to help them with their current home and believe it was the best decision they’ve ever made. This is because of the expertise and resources offered by their interior designer, Jackie.
Q: What made you seek out an interior designer to help with your home?
A: We were returning from Florida to Michigan after many years. All we were bringing were ideas, some major art pieces and some accessories. The home we bought was 20 years old and more contemporary than our oceanfront condo. We knew it needed to be updated starting with a new color palette, some kitchen and bathroom updates and all new furnishings. We wanted to ensure that this home embodied the best aspects of all our prior homes. We wanted it to be up to date and classy, but didn’t want to feel like you were walking into a museum. It had to be warm and inviting while still being classy.
Q: What were the main reasons you decided to hire Home Interior Warehouse to do your interior design?
A: We had been in friends’ homes who had used Home Interior Warehouse and were impressed with the facts that their homes looked very finished and coordinated, but at the same time were very warm, comfortable and inviting. We also visited Home Interior Warehouse to look at some of their furnishings and meet the team. We were very favorably impressed in both regards and knew that we could work with them.
Q: How has having an interior designer affected your design hopes and dreams?
A: Home Interior Warehouse brought our ideas and dreams to reality. By bringing their creativity, knowledge and expertise together, they put together a complete package that flows throughout our home — from paint colors, to window treatments, to furnishing, floor coverings, fabrics, and accessories — in a way that is refreshing and welcoming. From the minute you come in the front door, you know you want to stay here.
One of our favorite features is the chairs Jackie suggested we put in the living room. We used multiple shades of gray in the color pallet so everything is gray toned with metal accents. She said that we needed something to pop in there or it’s going to get dull and came up with two chairs that are zebra striped. It really put the wow factor in there.
Q: Was having an interior designer the experience you expected?
A: Working with Home Interior Warehouse ensured that our ideas were considered, but working with an expert provided us with new ideas and multiple alternatives for our consideration. Many of the alternatives were more exciting than what we originally proposed but also turned out to be more cost effective. The interior designer’s expertise provided us access to ideas and sources we would not have known about and which never would have been incorporated in the final project. It also resulted in a much more coordinated and finished look throughout our home.
For example, we thought we wanted a leather sectional in the great room and a fabric sectional in the library. However, our designer said we had it reversed and that we should have leather in library because it is more formal and fabric in the living room. She changed the layout to be more useful. She also saved us money on our purchases. I was adamant about wanting things made in USA and had picked a leather sectional that was priced at $20,000. She showed me something that was essentially the same but cost us a third of the price. That’s why you use people like
this, they have resources we couldn’t even stumble over.
Q: What was your favorite part of having a Home Interior Warehouse interior designer working in your home? How would you describe the way the interior designer listened and interpreted your design hopes and dreams?
A: The interior designer came to our empty home and did a walk through as we explained our lifestyle. We also shared our initial color selections on the manufacturer’s color wheel and photos of some furnishings we liked. At our first meeting the designer suggested that we consider making the colors a shade darker and offered several furniture selections that were similar but ultimately provided a warmer more coordinated, more cohesive look.
In addition, working with Home Interior Warehouse made the entire process fun and took the stress out of the project which spanned about 9 months. Home Interior Warehouse even took care of getting the outdoor furniture which also worked out perfectly.
We have heard nothing but rave reviews from family, friends and contractors who have seen the transformation of our home through the efforts and support of the Home Interior Warehouse team. Some of the comments often mentioned were “amazing,” “unbelievable,” “wow,” “this belongs in Architectural Digest” and “this can’t be the same place.” Now that we have had time to relax and enjoy ever
y aspect of our new home, working with Home Interior Warehouse was the best decision we’ve made in all of our building, remodeling, and furnishing projects — and there have been many.
