How to Choose a Christmas Tree
‘Tis the season to decorate for the holidays with the star of the show being the Christmas tree. Before you haul out the ornaments, however, it is important to choose the perfect tree for your home and lifestyle. Here are some quick tips for picking the perfect one.
Size and Shape
First and foremost when picking a tree is making sure it will be proportional to the space it will be showcased in. A huge tree might look nice in the lot but cramped in a small apartment, whereas a small tree is charming but could resemble Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree in a spacious living room. The How to Decorate blog suggests a minimum of six inches between your tree topper and the ceiling and three inches between the tree and the walls.
Real Vs. Artificial
The next question to consider is whether you want a real or artificial tree. There is a big debate on which is better but
it all comes down to what works best for your family and lifestyle. If you have the time and desire to water it every day, a real tree looks beautiful and can add that Christmas scent to your home. However many artificial trees look just as nice without all the work, plus they can be stored and used next year.
Type
Whether you decide on real or artificial, you also need to decide what type of tree you want. If you want a real tree you must choose between long or short needles and different shades of green. If you decide on artificial you also have the option of pre-lit, frosted or even a different color altogether.
