Kelly E – Georgia Home
Kelly recently moved from Michigan to Georgia and since Darlene had helped with her home in Michigan, Kelly knew she wanted her help with her new GA home. Before the move Darlene was able to help with layout, color scheme and new furniture that Kelly needed. Kelly has been very pleased with the entire process both times.
Q. Is this your first experience with an interior designer or have you worked with one before?
A. We worked with Darlene before when she helped us with our last home in Michigan, but that was our first experience with an interior designer. We were so happy with the results when we knew we were moving that we wanted her help again. The challenge was that we were moving out of state but that didn’t deter Darlene. We were able to incorporate pieces we already had with new items.
Q. What made you seek out an interior designer to help with your home?
A. We have a hard time with design. I know what I like when I see it but can’t always describe it. Often, I see styles or pieces of furniture I like but it’s hard for me to know how to put it all together and make it work in my home. We worked with Darlene several years ago and most recently with our new house and she makes the process so much easier.
Q. What were the main reasons you decided to hire Home Interior Warehouse to do your interior design?
A. I like the items they have in their showroom. They use well known furniture manufacturers who make quality furniture. Working with Darlene has been easy and there’s never any pressure to buy. She helps us work within our budget and on our own timeline.
Q. How has having an interior designer affected your design hopes and dreams?
A. A new home is very exciting but deciding what to buy can be overwhelming! But Darlene made it very easy and fun. I’m so very happy with the look of my new home! Darlene quickly figured out what kinds of things we liked and gave us choices. It was a very positive experience.
Q. How would you describe the style of your home? Contemporary/Modern? Rustic? Classic? Something else?
A. I’d say our house is classic and comfortable.
Q. Did you know this was your style before or did the interior designer help you discover that?
A. Darlene showed me photos of furniture and decorative pieces and asked me what I liked about them and what I didn’t. That helped narrow it down. Also, she knows we have kids and offered sturdy pieces with washable fabrics that will hold up to wear and tear.
Q. Was having an interior designer the experience you expected?
A. It was probably way easier than I would have thought. When we moved out of state, I thought it would be harder for her to help us but with photos and measurements she was able to come up with great ideas.
Q. What was your favorite part of having a HIW interior designer working in your home? How would you describe the way the interior designer listened and interpreted your design hopes and dreams?
A. Darlene listens. If she showed me something I didn’t like, I simply would say so and she moved on. She never tried to talk me into anything and always had other ideas to try.
Q. Do you have a favorite piece or pieces that were added to your home? Why is it/are they your favorite?
A. I have some very nice chairs in our family room that I just love. They’re comfortable and swivel around to face either the sofa or the tv and the fabric on them is so pretty.
