Neat & Neutral: Textiles
In keeping with our Neat and Neutral theme, this week we’ll be focusing on incorporating neutral textiles into your space. Decorating with textiles is one way you can show off your personality, add a touch of whimsy, and pull a design together into one cohesive look. One of the easiest and most effective ways to add interest into your design is by incorporating textiles. In this blog, we’ll show off some beautiful and often unexpected textile elements that are sure to make any space shine.
If you’re a lover of neutral decor you may have wondered how to make the space a little more lively without going overboard. As we’ve mentioned before, beginning with a timeless neutral foundation is the perfect starting point in creating the look you’ve always wanted. You can easily decorate your home or space with unique and trendy patterns, prints, and textiles to add that something extra you crave. Neutral textiles are the finishing touches that turn a space from good to great.
Neutral Textiles: An Upholstered Headboard
Few things are as dreamy as a gorgeous upholstered headboard. While wooden, metal, and other solid material headboards are beautiful and functional, there’s something about an upholstered headboard that’s unique and special. Almost as if adding a touch of romance to your bedroom, incorporating an upholstered headboard can take your space from nice and pretty to bold and glamorous. There’s something so luxurious feeling about crawling into a big, puffy bed with thick blankets, squishy pillows, and a soft place to lean against while reading. As seen in the photos above, we love to use a mix of greys and creams to create the ultimate neutral space that’s brimming with luxury. The subtle tufting detail and nailhead trim add an element of elegance.
Neutral Textiles: Patterns & Pillows
Our Colton sectional from Norwalk looks great dressed in warm tones of caramel, cream, and black. We love the earthy feel the rug and table bring to this look. Paired with the Eva Chair in a beautiful copper tone, this living room look is neat, neutral, and full of interesting textiles. Playing with patterns and mixing prints is a unique way to add interest in a neutral space. Having a neutral base like the sofas and sectional seen in the photos above keeps the mixture of colors and patterns from being too overwhelming. Here’s a tip: upholster your sofa in an interesting fabric like we did in the photo above with Wide Wale Chenille. It will spice up your decor and add an unexpected element while keeping in line with a light and neutral space.
Neutral Textiles: Area Rugs
You can create a charming and distinctive focal point in your decor scheme by utilizing a gorgeous area rug. An area rug will act as an anchoring piece that will pull your design together. It’s important to make sure you choose the right rug size for your space. Not sure what size is right for you? Check out this rug sizing graphic. In the design projects highlighted above, we opted to use subtle neutral rugs in bold patterns, blending neutral colors with interesting finishes. While each of these looks would have looked beautiful on their own, they wouldn’t have felt complete without an area rug to ground them and anchor the space.
